Expecting 8

What are your feelings about the story of the mom who just had Octuplets (8 babies)? Don't be shy about your response. I am curious.

My feelings are this:

I don't think she was thinking clearing, since she already had 6 children, not married and living with her parents in a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom house. I don't think she thought of the other children who range in age 2 -7. I can't imagine what those 6 kids are going through and what the mom's parents are thinking. That is going to be a crowded house. I feel that the IVF Clinic that did the procedure was out of line and should never had done the procedure in the first place.

With that said, I hope those babies, all 14 of them, grow up healthy and happy. I hope they are shown love and loved. I hope the 6 that she had already are not forgotten and set aside.

That is amazing! I forgo giving my opinion, I am just glad it's not me, but out of curiosity what is the record of the most babies born at once to one woman? I can't even imagine fitting 8 in there!

I'm with you 100%. I had no idea there was no father in the picture.

Rolyndia, I couldn't agree more. I think it was irresponsible on the Dr.'s parts as well as hers. There was an extensive article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram about it. The mother that she lives with has filed bankruptcy citing liabilities of over $891,000.00. I guess it is a good thing they live in California where there are some good health care programs. Or so I have heard. I can not imagine the logistics of caring for 14 kids in a house that size.

Anything further I might say would probably be inappropriate. I am glad you asked the question though.

I agree that this is totally absurd. But I'm thinking she may have thought this was a way to gain fame and earn $$ through media/TV/movies etc. This isn't John and Kate plus 8 but rather Mom, and 6 plus eight. I agree that I hope the children are well loved and that their needs are met - but not via publicity!

I have to say that I worry about the children (all 14 of them). I do think the doctors who implanted all 8 (or were there even more) acted irresponsibly. And Roy - fondant is so easy. Call me and I will walk you through it or you can come to my class on Wednesday because my students will be making it.

The class is from 5 until 9 in Clark 339 (that's the kitchen). Come if you can.

If you come about 6:00 or so I can help you. Just bring a package of mini marshmallows, 2 pounds of powdered sugar and about 1/2 cup of shortening.
